Guo Jingjing started training in competitive diving in 1988. She took up diving when she was six-years-old at the Baoding Training Base. In 1992, she was selected to dive for the Chinese national team. Her current coach is Zhong Shaozhen. Currently her goal is to win medals at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. She also announced on November 23, 2006 that she would retire following the 2008 Olympic Games.
